Potty Training on Vacation

In the coming months vacation time begins. What do you do if you are in the middle of potty training your toddler? You shouldn't worry; there are ways to potty train even if you aren't at home. First of all, don't change a routine if you have been using one. If you take your toddler to the potty when they wake up continue to do so. Also, when you are on long car trips you should plan on stopping at least every two hours. Many parents use a child size potty when training their children. If this is the case for you try to begin having your child use the big toilet for a few weeks before vacation time rolls around.

Many kids take longer to use the bathroom in unfamiliar places. Have patience when this happens because on trips it will happen! You can prepare your child by letting him use the bathroom at friend's houses. Other places to try are local schools and libraries. Try making it an adventure, this way you are more likely to receive their cooperation. Try not to forget that accidents are bound to happen, so be prepared for them. Potty training varies for all kids so if things don't exactly work out, that's okay. When you get home and things are back to normal your toddlers will be too.
