Indoor Boredom Busters
Nine “Quicky” Boredom Busters

  1. Make a fort throughout a room, using blankets, pillows, cushions, and towels. (If it looks as if you’re going to be stuck inside several days, you may want to let the kids leave the fort in place at the end of each day.)
  2. With just an inkpad and your fingers, you and your children can make thumb print creatures! Try a mouse or a kitten.
  3. Make an “arm tree.” Have your child cover his forearm (elbow to wrist) with paint, then press his arm on a piece of paper. This is the “trunk” of the tree. He then dips his hand into paint and presses it down at the top of the trunk for the “branches.”
  4. Cut out stencil patterns from clear plastic lids like those on a coffee can and have fun!
  5. Using black construction paper and white string, you can create a picture of a skeleton, a dinosaur, a flower, or any number of things.
  6. Mix Epsom salt and water, and help your child brush the mixture over his or her most recent piece of art. When it dries, he’ll have a frosted picture!
