Family Togetherness
The sun sets and everyone bounds home, energy and restlessness in tow! Here are activities for the entire troop to enjoy.
Family Nights are planned times when you are alone together as a family. It is a time to relax and enjoy being together. While Family Night may be an excellent time to work on instilling values and teaching spiritual truths, it is also a time to have fun. Often values will be caught, not taught. Over the years, a high priority for us was simply to have fun together. Here are some guidelines for Family Night:
- Don’t over structure Family Night. Much of the year our children are in school five days a week, and their time at school is very structured. They won’t get excited about a Family Night if it feels like school.
- Be flexible. You may have chosen your favorite game to play when everyone else is in the mood to read the book you just bought. Relax and trust the group. Go with the flow!
- Consider your objectives – to build strong relationships and strengthen your own family unit and just to have fun!
- Know your family and plan appropriately.
- Relax. Everything doesn’t always have to work out perfectly. Just clean up the messes and move on!
