Ten Great Dates to Energize Your Marriage (Part 2)
By David & Claudia Arp
The following ten steps will help you begin your dating experience on a positive note:
- Agree to have ten dates with your mate. It really doesn’t matter who found the program or book and whose idea it was. The important thing is that both of you are willing to have ten dates to enrich you marriage.
- Schedule your dates and write them in your calendar.
- Clear your schedule. This may include getting a sitter and putting off some seemingly urgent tasks.
- Plan for possible interruptions. Despite the best planning, at times children get sick or other unexpected problems arise, and you will have to change your plans. When this happens, reschedule your date for the same week, if possible, and persevere. Hang in there and value your time together.
- Anticipate each date. Let your spouse know you’re looking forward to time together. Be clever. Send notes, and give hints that you’re anticipating a great date with your mate.
- Before the date, read the chapter summary here or the full chapter in the book and note key topics to discuss. If you fill out the short exercise before the date, you’ll have more time for intimate conversation. But if not, you can do the exercise during the date.
