52 Dates For You & Your Mate

Play-with-a-Pet Date
Consider Alternatives: If you, like us at present, have no furry friends, don’t despair. You can still have a Play-with-a-Pet Date. Here are a couple of suggestions:
- Visit a pet store. One pet store in our town lets the cats that are for sale roam the store. Customers can pet and visit with the cat of their choice.
- Offer to “sit” your neighbor’s pet for an evening. When our boys were growing up, we used to pet-sit for long enough to know who really had to take care of them – and it wasn’t our three boys! But a pet for an evening can be fun.
- Check the phone book for the number of your local animal shelter, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), or Humane Society. We hear that some animal shelters like for people to come walk the dogs and play with the cats. If this is true in your town, don’t rule this out as a fun date when you’re too tired to talk to people.
