52 Dates For You & Your Mate

Play-with-a-Pet Date
The Idea: When we get too old and feeble to travel, we’re going to get a pet. In the meantime, we enjoy being around the menagerie of cats that belongs to our sons and their wives, Jarrett and Laurie and Joel and Jeanne. Between the four of them, they have five cats! One couple has three, the other two.
We remember thinking, “What would a young couple in law school want with three cats?” From observing Jarrett and Laurie, we think we know the answer. It makes for inexpensive entertainment – especially when you’re too tired to do anything else. Their three feline friends add fun to life.
Regain Emotional Health: If you are just too tired for the more strenuous dates, you can sit around and play with your animals. Psychologists tell us pets can be therapeutic and good for our emotional health.
When we were first married, we did have a pet – a hamster named Basel. You may not believe this, but Basel was a wedding present! (Claudia’s brother has a funny sense of humor.) We did enjoy our pet, but Basel was a problem hamster. He kept breaking out of his cage and the fringe off our chenille bed spreads. (Remember those?)
