Engagement 101 - The Wedding Ceremony Details
When you meet with your clergyman, rabbi, or other officiant conducting the ceremony, ask about any special requirements, religious or legal, that you need to fulfill prior to your wedding. Some churches, temples or other religious facilities enforce restrictions that you may not have known about. Be sure to ask for a list of ceremony guidelines and restrictions.
If you are about to marry someone of a different faith you both should discuss the differences and consider one belief or religion to practice. If you are converting to another religion be sure to inquire about religious classes as well as premarital classes the congregation may offer.
Most religious facilities can recommend who to contact for ceremonial music. The music when you walk down the isle is not a small matter. Whether you want a soloist, a harpist, or a pianist, you will most definitely want someone that will draw the attention to you and not to their lousy music or screechy voice. Be sure to audition anyone you intend to hire for the ceremony music.
Start thinking about your vows and if you will be writing your own. You may want to select a favorite reading or song to be included in the service. This is a special way to include others in the wedding that are not part of the wedding party.
