Engagement 101 - The Bride

Bridal Shower Ideas
If your looking to throw a unique bridal shower, themed showers have become very popular in recent years. If your looking for ideas try one or two of the following theme possibilities as well as a game to mix up the fun.

Lovegevity®, The Wedding Planning Game is a fun and unique way for engaged couples to learn the ropes of wedding planning.

The objective of the game is for each player or engaged couple to design their signature wedding, without running out of money or going over budget. Planning blunders and other bumps may be met along the way as the couple checks off items on their list. "Forgot to read the fine print of your contract, pay $200, argue about the guest list, lose a turn." Choosing everything from the bridal gown to reception location, the couple will have to make personal choices together and try to avoid expensive mistakes.

Lingerie/Personal
Personal Showers are a lot of fun. Gifts usually include personal items of lingerie that people don't seem to buy for themselves. A bride needs to have every part of her trousseau, and that espesially includes lingerie for the honeymoon. Gifts may include sexy underwear, bras, lacy nightgowns, camisoles or a silky robe. Other personal items include lotions, bath salts, perfume, or a basket full of massage gifts. Check out this lingerie site for more gift ideas for the bride and groom.

Kitchen Showers
This is a great co-ed. shower. There are several companies that will help in hosting a kitchen theme shower. The Pampered Chef and Tupperware are the most popular. Gift ideas become endless and can range from large appliances to the inexpensive kitchen utensils. A fun idea for this shower is to have each guest bring a favorite recipe with a gift that will help prepare the recipe.

Shower Ideas
In order to avoid the possibilities of duplicate gifts, it's important that a bride and groom register at 2 or more department or home furnishing stores. This helps your guest pick out the right colors or theme you are planning to use in your new home. Another way to eliminate duplicate gifts is to assign each shower guest to buy a gift for a specific room in your new home.

The highlight of the shower is opening the gifts. Have a seat specially prepared for the bride. Either her maid of honor or the hostess should sit next to her to record who gave each gift; this helps the bride when she's writing thank-you notes. A new way to do this is to use instant photos. Have the bride pose with each guest and her opened gift. The record-keeper can write the guest's name and a description of the gift on the back of each photo. Later, the photos make a great keepsake for the bride or a lovely token to include with each thank-you note.
