When Will I Meet His Parents?
By Abby Horton
The two of you have been together for nine months, almost ten to be exact. Things are going great, you like his friends and he likes yours. He even watches your cat when you go on your business trips. He obviously thinks you are great (and he tells you all the time), however, there is one tiny problem. He has YET to introduce you to his parents---what in the world is he waiting on? You basically have two choices: you either believe his excuse or you don't. If you choose to think he is lying to you there are probably two ideas floating around in your head. He is either A, ashamed to be seen with you or B, the son of a pair of circus performers. And we are not talking about your acceptable trapeze artists; think bearded lady and alien man.
He says he wants to take things slow and spend more time together before you meet his parents. Consider these options; it is highly possible that he likes having you all to himself, no nosy mothers included. Also, how many guys have you taken home for the ever-popular dinner lately? Maybe his mom told him "not another one until you mean business." And on your weekends home how many times do you hear "isn't it about time you settle down?" Whew! Talk about pressure! Unless you are convinced he is a big, fat liar and you are ready to tell him au revoir…just sit back, relax and enjoy your time together, void of parental feedback.
