How To Really Love The One You’re With
By Larry James

The Ultimate Goal:

Unconditional Love

I have a love relationship where both love partners have agreement to strive to reach the state of unconditional love – love given with no requirement or expectation or receiving anything in return. It is a love given for the sheer joy of loving, without a payoff from the person who is the object of love.

Lasting enlightenment or true spiritual growth can be achieved only through the persistent exercise of unconditional love. Unconditional love is a healthy choice.

I love myself and my love partner, fully and unconditionally! My love partner loves herself and me, fully and unconditionally!

This is our highest priority.

I know that love is the answer to all questions.

Self Love

In a healthy love relationship, an inner loving relationship with myself must first be nurtured. I cannot give unconditional to my love partner if I do not have unconditional love for myself. Self-love and love of others go hand in hand. They are indistinguishable. A healthy love relationship with myself is a high priority. Then, and only then, can I initiate a successful outer love relationship with another.

My relationship with myself is the most important one in life. Once I have discovered my own commitment to myself, my willingness to be with myself forever, through good times and bad, then, and only then, do I have the foundation to share the commitment with another. Unconditional love of myself creates the space in which to experience spiritual union with my love partner. Not only do people treat me the way I treat myself, I am the one I always have to live with.
