Jacques Haeringer
Food Keeps Love Alive
About Jacques
Whether it is an exquisite repast featuring rack of lamb, or an easy-to-prepare dish like tartar of Arctic char, Jacques Haeringer believes that "Love begins in the kitchen". Jacques is chef de cuisine of L'Auberge Chez Francois, a French country restaurant tucked away in the picturesque hills of Great Falls, Virginia. He brings his passion for romantic cooking home to millions with his two successful cookbooks, The Chez Francois Cookbook, and Two For Tonight, and his popular nationwide television program "Two For Tonight", airing on public television.
To understand Jacques Haeringer's inspiration, one needs only to meet this father, Francois, who created the original legendary Chez Francois in the heart of Washington, DC, nearly 50 years ago. Francois Haeringer was one of the pioneers who established French Cuisine in post war America. With Francois' tutelage, young Jacques learned first-hand the techniques for creating dishes only found in the province of Alsace.
After Jacques graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, he decided to travel to France to apprentice in "la cuisine Francaise" and expand his culinary knowledge.
In 1976, the Haeringer family opened L'Auberge Chez Francois which has been attracting food connoisseurs from around the world. With his father Francois' creative guidance, and along with Jacques and the spirited family team, comprised of his mother, Marie-Atoinette and two brothers, Robert and Paul, the restaurant has received numerous awards such as four diamonds from AAA, and has been voted "most romantic" from readers from Washingtonian magazine for 16 consecutive years. The restaurant also has been featured in Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines to name a few. For more information, contact The Trina Kaye Organization at 310-915-0970.
