Dr. Roger Coleman
Clergy Services, Inc. specializes in developing ceremonies, products and educational resources that support and strengthen family relationships.
Roger Coleman, a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister, founded Clergy Services in 1980 initially to assist engaged couples in finding clergy persons to officiate at their weddings.
From his experience with weddings, Dr. Coleman recognized the special needs of brides and grooms marrying for other than the first time. In 1987, he developed the Family Medallion® as a resource for couples remarrying with children from previous relationships. Currently, Family Medallion® presentations are included in over 15,000 weddings annually to acknowledge the importance of children and to provide positive support for new families created when a parent remarries.
Because of its significance as a positive tool for creating healthy stepfamilies, the Family Medallion® presentation has been featured recently in a variety of major publications and television documentaries including Time Magazine, US News and World Report and 20/20. A 1999 documentary on divorce and remarriage in the United States by NHK Public Television of Japan focused on the importance of Family Medallion® resources for stepfamilies.
Dr. Coleman is president of Clergy Services, Inc. and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Stepfamily Association of America, Inc. Our offices are located in the midtown area of Kansas City, Missouri. The experienced staff is dedicated to serving the needs of brides and grooms who are remarrying with children involved.
In addition to his work with stepfamilies, Dr. Coleman serves on the staff of two congregations in Kansas City, Missouri - Community Christian Church and Pilgrim Chapel. Dr. Coleman is a regular columnist for Bride Again magazine. He holds graduate degrees from Texas Christian University, the University of Missouri and St. Paul School of Theology.
